Focus
on Relationships
Churches tend to grow by focusing on one of three areas: entertainment
(music and activities for youth and adults), relationships, and
good teaching. Entertainment and good teaching can grow a congregation
quickly, and give the appearance of success
until another
church with better entertainment or teaching comes along. The focus
is on the professionals up front (worship leaders and pastors),
and great pressure is put upon them to perform up to snuff with
the latest bells and whistles.
We
firmly believe that the strength of a church lies in its relationships
with the Lord and with each other. Developing relationships
is the slowest and surest way to grow a congregation, but it is
also a more biblical and long-lasting approach. The emphasis of
the church is not on the professionals up front in the services,
but on the ministry of every believer every day.
The Church Family
If you begin to join with us on a regular basis, and develop
relationships with our people, those relationships are the basis
for being considered part of the "church family."
Membership
Those who wish to minister in a teaching or leadership capacity,
and have a vote in matters that the elders bring before the church,
can become members of the church. Membership of MountainView Bible
Church is open to anyone who meets the following criteria:
- You have professed faith in the
Lord Jesus Christ and acknowledge that He is Lord of your life.
- You have been baptised by immersion
after professing faith in Christ, or have made a plan to be baptised
in the near future.
- You give assent to the church's
Constitution and
Statement of Faith.
Parts Joined In A Body
When we meet together as a local group of believers, we are
linked together in a bond of fellowship, learning, and accountability
(1 Corinthians 12:13-27). If you struggle, we struggle with you.
If you succeed, we rejoice with you. Your need is a call on the
rest of us as a family of families to help you emotionally, spiritually
and physically.
We are a local body of believers;
our connection to Christ and each other is relational, not merely
institutional. Come and join us!
